Pose in an area with beautiful lighting - either indoor or outdoor. How to know if the lighting looks good on your face? See yourself in front of the camera, turn 90 degrees, make note of the lighting and the background, keep on turning until you see the best spot. If you cannot see the best spot then you may want to try at a different place or time of the day. Best time to take picture is after sunrise but before sunset.

Unfortunately, some events don't happen after sunrise but before sunset, but during night time. But we should not worry because technology has a resolution to that. Changes on the original photo either by adjusting the brightness, contrast or make the image looks sharper are of some help. Though smart phones do not have the professional capability of a DSLR camera, there are tons of mobile apps to help adjust and enhance your photos to take them to a new level. Altering your photos are needed to enhance the photo quality or to give it a more appealing feel. However, do not overdo the alteration that results to an unrealistic one. It still has to look natural and real.

Know your best spot. If you are confident to show up your right part of your face then shot from that side. But most importantly, just be yourself and you will have that confidence to show them the best photograph ever. Because the best angle you could ever capture is when you're at your best.

Sometimes, one difficulty with selfies is that the background is busy and distracting. You can solve this by cropping those crap. You can also hold your phone closer to yourself and it will accentuate features on your face that are closer to the lens and minimize those that are further away. This means that your nose will look longer and your eyes smaller. You can also zoom in your phone just slightly and hold the camera away from your face. Now your features look proportionate and you decluttered the background!
