Last sunday, after I attended sunday mass at San Pedro Cathedral, I went to Cinematheque Davao to watch their free admission movies. Gentle, We are Moluccans and Before Morning Returns are movies based on a true story which they offer to dabawenyos that time. It started last September 15, 2015 and ended September 20, 2015 and luckily I was able to catch the ongoing screen "We are Moluccans" then right after is "Before Morning Returns".
We are Moluccans was directed by Angga Dwimas Sasongko. It talks about religious conflict between Christians and Muslims broke out in Maluku in December 1999. Among this conflict, Sani (motorbike / taxi driver) takes it into his hands to save the children in his village from the conflict through soccer. When they reach the national championship after many sacrifices, conflict emerges once again and divides his religiously diverse team. With the championship at stake, they must work through their differences to bring new hope to Maluku.
Before Morning Returns was directed by Lasja Fauzia Susatyo. The film is supported by the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission, which seeks to raise awareness on societal problems that has caused wide-spread corruption, collusion and nepotism.
