Early historians aver that the town of Bogo derived its name from a lone bogo tree or Garuga floribunda which stood on the shore where now is Bogo wharf. The city is located in the northern part of Cebu province. From Cebu City going to Bogo City, you will pass the Shrine of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal which is one of the popular spot in the place which is located in Brgy. La Paz. Another one is the Shrine of St. Vincent Ferrer. It is an old church located in Brgy. Bungtod just few meters away from the town plaza.
